Poster Tile Printing and Overlap Calculator
Calculate the required page count and the area covered by each sheet from poster size, paper, margins, and overlap in millimeters.
Before tiling a large diagram or sign across a home printer, check how many sheets it needs and how far adjacent sheets overlap. No image upload is required.
Dimensions are not uploaded. Calculation runs only in this browser.
Tile plan
Enter dimensions and calculate the plan.
Printer-specific unprintable edges cannot be detected. Test one sheet at 100% or actual size before printing the complete poster.
Page order preview
How to use it
1
Enter the finished size
Enter the target poster width and height in millimeters.
2
Choose paper and margins
Specify orientation, printer margins, and the overlap used for assembly.
3
Review count and order
Use the grid preview to review sheet count and page order, then make an actual-size test print.
Calculation assumptions
The calculation treats the supplied paper size, margins, and overlap as exact. It cannot account for printer-driver scaling or the actual unprintable area.
Frequently asked questions
- What should I enter as the margin?
- Enter the printer's unprintable edge plus any blank margin you intentionally need. Check the printer specification if it is unknown.
- How much overlap do I need?
- Use enough to absorb cutting and assembly error. Start around 5 to 10 mm and adjust for the material and printer accuracy.
- Can this tool print the poster directly?
- The initial version calculates page count and tile ranges only. It does not generate a PDF or split an image automatically.
